  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My main role is to supervise a team to deliver a great customer experience for the guests. I have to run all aspects of the pub. From emails to answering calls, dealing with team members issue or even customer issues. Dealing with cash and also cellar management is also daily tasks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I didn’t find this course as challenging as I thought it would be. I have been working in this trade for 16 years so maybe I should of been able to go straight on to my level 4 as I feel that would have been better suited for me.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the business project at the end of the course and I enjoyed doing my assignments. I found this rest quite repetitive. Suzanne my mentor was lovely, she was really helpful and I always managed to get hold of her straight away if I had any issues with it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I can’t really write 50 words on this because I just feel it was structured good but it was very repetitive. I was seeing the same question three times over in different sections. I thought the format on the website wa a great thought. Easy to navigate through it.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I didn’t really need any support. But they offered if I needed it. My mentor was always available to if I needed anything from her . I found all the information I needed from Greene king and my manger I’d needed. So I’d say I was supported enough.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Suzanne was great. She was informative and so friendly. She was also always available if I needed any questions answering! She helped and guided me the whole way through. She was supportive and clearly enjoys her job role. I think it was the best thing about the course as she helped me get through it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I don’t think it does. It was not challenging enough for me. I wish I could of then straight to level 4 though I have some other team members completing level 3 and they are really enjoying it. So it may be that it was a stepping atone

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • No I do not. I have two children so they keep me busy. There is a good social life at work with the younger group. We do a lot for charity so we all get involved in that which I think is a great team building session and we all enjoy it.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great place to work and there are so many opportunities. I have worked for the company for 16 years now. It is a hard trade because of the anti social hours but we all have a good work life balance which helps. I have had no issues.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Take any opportunity they offer you. Work you way through the company and make lots of friends.
