  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • General operations of a crowded bar with a big beer garden and 20 tables inside. Ordering, stock rotation, cellar management, cash handling, staff management, rota planning, sales planning, human resources, employee relations, customer satisfaction, staff training, law and legislation, general maintenance, cleaning, and presentation management are just a few of the diverse responsibilities I have.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • While working for Greene King and completing my apprenticeship, I have developed a variety of new skills and greatly expanded my knowledge through mentoring from coworkers and trainers, research, and training provided by the company, as well as lifetime training, which is always available online.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really appreciate learning new things since it helps me become better today and have more potential in the future. I believe the learning I'm getting is of the highest quality and will prepare me, or anyone else participating in the programmes offered, for whatever the future may hold.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program's structure is great; you are given all of your important dates for your apprenticeship from the outset, and these dates have been carefully scheduled so they don't conflict with significant company events, enabling you to be in your position when it matters most. Its very efficient.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is really encouraging because he is the one who encouraged me to complete an apprenticeship because he thinks that every employee should be developed to the best of their abilities. Training time is allotted to us, and there is always and ready access to any further support. Thanks

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training coach, who is provided by my training provider, is always available by phone for assistance and support. She also arranges a face-to-face meeting once a month to help us track our personal growth and progress and to address any other issues. when not available we also do remote meetings from time to time.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Every aspect of the programme is extremely relevant to the overall management of a pub and the role I continue to play every day. By completing the programme, I am able to evaluate how I currently operate and adapt and improve my procedures in order to streamline them for the best outcome for the company.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • All of the aforementioned are offered by Greene King and Lifetime Training, and they allow for more networking with others who share your interests. This, in turn, helps you to increase your knowledge by learning new business-related skills and methods. Additionally, it is a perfect moment to lend a hand in any manner you can.

  • The client and employee are at the centre of what Greene King does, and the company values employee and customer feedback when developing training programmes and operational procedures. Greene King provide fair compensation and praise for a job well done. It has also been monumental in my career growth something i would love to share.

  • Be prepared to talk about your customer service skills. Greene King is a customer-facing company, so it is important to be able to demonstrate your ability to provide excellent customer service. Be able to work as part of a team. Greene King is a team-oriented company, so it is important to be able to work effectively with others. Be flexible and adaptable. The hospitality industry is constantly changing, so it is important to be able to adapt to new situations and challenges. Be passionate about food and drink. Greene King is a food and beverage company, so it is important to be passionate about food and drink.
