I am an assistant manager for a busy pub in East London. I assist the General Manager in the day to day running of the pub, as well as stock management, health and safety compliance and training of team members. As well as serving and dealing with guests.
I have developed my skills for coaching and various leadership styles.
My programme was very interesting, and I really liked my trainer. The materials were easy to access, and I was in regular contact to receive support.
My programme was halted for 2 months during the initial covid 19 outbreak, however once the break in learning ended, I would have monthly online meetings with my trainer.
My employer gives me help from my line manager, the General Manager, as well as various training materials, and access to various senior leaders such as Business Development Managers and people from head office.
I was able to contact my trainer at any time to support me for my qualification, as well as monthly meetings. The online materials that I could access were comprehensive and informative.
My programme has helped me to develop in my knowledge of various leadership and coaching styles and has allowed me to take a step back and evaluate my own management skills and be better.
We have an online social media platform with various groups where I can engage with the entire corporation, and we like to get involved with charity events for Macmillan.
Yes
They are a supportive employer and were fantastic during the lockdown to ensure the employees were supported, and ensured that many measures were put in place on our return to work to keep us and our guests safe.
I would tell them to be prepared for the long shifts and unsociable hours, but if you have a good team you will have a great time and is a rewarding job.
