  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed my programme because I had an opportunity to study by myself using the learning platform and to hold meetings with my regional trainer who was very helpful and competent as he had been a pub manager before. It met my expectations because I feel like I have developed my skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was well organised from the beginning. I had an induction, then a meeting with my regional training. I got access to the learner platform when I could study by myself. The platform was made of 10 different modules that I had to pass. I had meetings with my tutor every 4-5 weeks. He would check my knowledge and ask for examples in real life.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The regional training gave me lots of support. His previous experience as a pub manager was crucial. He gave me a lot of examples from his work how to deal with problems that occur in a pub. He never cancelled any meeting. I enjoyed those meetings because they were held in a friendly atmosphere.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I know more about the hospitality industry. I feel more confident when dealing with customers or team. My manager has also noticed that I have a complex knowledge about the various regulations and legislation. • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not at the moment due to the pandemic and national lockdown. Before, we used to play football or had some social events in order to keep the team together. However, the company offers a variety of live events on Teams where everyone can feel to be a part of Greene King community.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because the company cares about its employees during the pandemic, lockdown and between the lockdowns (eg. in summer). Everyone is able to engage in some social activities on Kingdom (company's social media platform) and ask quesions to Head office. Exec board keep us up to date with all the actions they take. Additionally, there have been no problem with furlough pay which is imporant these days.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • They will have to work hard and long hours regardless of a type of contract. However, they will have an opportunity to develop their skills through apprenticeships programme and eventually to be promoted for a higher position. I would just ask them to drop their CV in the pub they want to work in and someone will invite them for a interview and a trial shift.
