  • daily I send out policies to new starters within the company, I suspend and set up new company mobiles to send out to different branches, I control the online training for GDPR which is required to be completed by anyone within the business. I also create policy documents and file away any signed and returned documents. I analyse and action the companies mobile bill when it is received monthly. I shred and scan documents to be stored.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my skills while using Excel spreadsheet, I have learnt how to create automatic sums and how to efficiently create tables with filters. Using the filters allows the data to be sorted and searched through much more efficiently. I have also learnt a lot about GDPR and data protection as it is part of my job to report if there is and data breaches within the business. I have also improved my communication skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship, it has given me the opportunity to learn many new skills, and to improve any existing skills while also on the job and earning money. The team that I work with are great, there is always a good level of communication between the team when completing projects or tasks. Everyone is very friendly and always available if you need help with something. Working with them has been very rewarding.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My apprenticeship has been very well structured. I work Monday to Friday from 8.15-4.45. I am given time every Friday to complete and study my apprenticeship coursework. It has been more difficult to keep this structure during lockdown as the workload has been greatly increased, but I have still managed to get the work done and to try and follow the structure that has been put in place for me. I prefer to have set times to complete different tasks.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive so much support from my employers. My line manager makes sure to have weekly or bi weekly meetings with me to ensure that I am okay and to check how I feel about the workload and whether I feel it is too much or not enough. There are plenty of different sources to access if you need support within the business. HR regularly send out mental health awareness posters and links as do the marketing teams.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • From when I started my apprenticeship I have worked with 3 different learning providers/tutors. The current tutor that I am working with has been excellent and has provided me with plenty of resources and research to help complete my apprenticeship within the timeframe. They have also shown me a much more efficient way of completing units by creating audio conversations to be submitted. This means that I can spend less time typing and can complete more units.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I personally feel I have learnt more from actually working and being in the environment than I have from completing the qualification. This is due to personally learning more from physically completing work and being able to communicate with colleagues. I find this way of learning much more beneficial than completing questions. But I do feel that I have learnt more information about the structure of organisations and how they operate during my studies of the course.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, the organisation has many different extra curricular activities and social events to take part in. There are 5 a side football matches played on Monday nights by the team, this is completely voluntary of course, but is a nice option to have. The team also often go out for meals and drinks together after work, all of the team are invited as it is nice to be able to socialise outside of the work environment.

  • 9a. Would you recommend The Parts Alliance to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend. The support provided by my manager and the team is always really helpful. The social aspect has also been great, many social events to attend through work. The opportunity to learn so many new skills while also making your own money. Finally the opportunities that have been provided to me throughout the course of my apprenticeship have been amazing, I have been able to sit in meetings with suppliers.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Parts Alliance?
  • When applying for an IT role it is important to speak openly and honestly during your interview about which aspects of IT you mostly enjoy. This is important because any courses or opportunities will be centred around this. The interviewing process was very friendly while still being formal, also being given a tour and meeting the team on the first day of work was very nice as it makes you feel much more welcome and less awkward.
