I am a hospitality team leader, which means I am involved in supervising a shift at work, whilst also motivating and helping team players in my team. I set up for the day, and can also close down at night, which includes counting money and securing the premises when I am working.
I have gained increased confidence throughout my apprenticeship, and I have learnt new things whilst working towards my apprenticeship. This includes things such as money and finance skills, motivating skills, leadership styles and many more other skills. I have developed existing skills, such as communication skills, team working skills among others.
I really enjoyed my programme. My trainer was extremely supportive and always kept in touch with me via email, which I found very helpful whilst working. I was also constantly being reminded of my progress and things which I needed to improve on, and the rate at which my work was being set was very flexible.
With regards to my trainer, my work was very organised and structured, as it was always clear what work I needed to complete. However the programme as a whole was sometimes not as structured as it could've been. Sometimes new modules were added without any warning and this meant that other pieces of work had to be posponed.
My employer gives me support when needed and always asked how I was getting on with my apprenticeship programme. They knew I needed more on the job training, and they were happy to provide this to me. They also kept a good relationship with my trainer which helped the process.
My trainer always gave me support and kept in touch with me all the time via email, which was very helpful for my progression. I was always being reminded of my progress and what work I needed to complete, which was always very helpful when it came to organising my work.
I learnt alot during my apprenticeship programme, and I use this knowledge throughout my day to day working role. Things such as leadership styles are key when working as a supervisor, and things such as motivating skills are also useful when working with other members of staff. I use all the skills I learnt.
