  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am employed to serve and give the customer the best trip they can have and to ensure they leave happy. I also cook in the kitchen to as multi trained. Basically my job is to do what the customer wants or needs to have a good experience and be happy. I clean down the bar at night and close up. I also run the kitchen on my kitchen shifts and bar on bar shifts.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learn new skills everyday. My boss is amazing and takes time out of her own personal life and time to train me on things other than bar and kitchen I.e line cleans and changing proper ale barrels. I am very grateful for this as I aspire to run my own pub eventually and she is my role model

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the apprenticeship because it keeps me learning new skills and trades. It pushes me to be better and be more focused on the goals that I want to achieve. I enjoy the fact that the trainer is understanding that I am dyslexic and helps me with my reading and explaining things which helps me enjoy my learning and keeps my goals achievable

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the programme is very organised. Communication between departments is good and never crossed wires. Appointments are never missed and also stay in touch to make sure that I am OK and u see stand what is happening. I always leave a meeting knowing exactly what is expected of me and what needs to be done before the next appointment.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is amazing and I aspire to be like her. She gives me so much support mentally because I struggle alot with writing and reading she's been helping me learn in her own time. She has invested alot of time in me to help me achieve my goals. I couldn't be more grateful. She explains everything I'm taught in grate detail which helps me understand.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider is really good. He's easy going and easy to talk to which is important when doing any course so that you know you can ask anything without feeling awkward. He does not laugh when I ask stupid questions or make me feel uncomfortable. He is so understand I'd my extra help needs.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe that this course helps me work better in my role as it has helped me learn alot about hospitality and what the customer needs and wants to enjoy they're stay. It has taught me better ways of dealing with things and given me confidence to deal with all situations at work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • They're is no extra curricular activities at me work however we do all meet occasionally and have a drink and chat. Work out how we can all work well alongside each other. We have staff meetings in public places casual so we all have our stay and go out as a group every now and then to keep us all connected.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend greene king to a friend as they do everything the canto support they're employee and help them grow up the ladder and progress into something bigger. The give staff discounts and always have our backs when we need them most. They respond quickly to queries and always ready to help train us.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Be head strong. Create your own goals and push to achieve them. Wether that is owning your own pub or becoming an assistant manager. Have goals. It gives you something to strive forward for. Take the apprenticeships greenking are always ready to train to teach and you get so much beneficial qualifications. You will love it.
