I enjoyed my apprenticeship that I done through greeneking learning in more depths about my career and what practices I need to be doing when working. It also gave me more experience in all types of kitchens with things like prep and service. If I had stayed in the company longer I would have definitely done level 3.
I learnt Food hygiene level 2 and also health and safety in the workplace with this I shave the ability to work safety in my work environment I also learnt alot of this I never knew like alergens and temperature apparently every company has there own safe food temperature but it always exceeded 75c Food preparation Fire safety where also a key skill I learnt.
I enjoyed it along with my trainer coming to my workplace and helping me through the program. I enjoyed learning about everything through a workbook giving me a different perspective on my career. I would definitely recommend the course to anyone who is through greeneking I am now currently with Whitbread and may look into extending my experience through the new company.
In the beginning it was very difficult getting a consistent trainer for some reason but when I giving a trainer who came to every appointment and helped me through the course it was great and I enjoyed it. Without the trainer I would have struggled with getting through the course as I struggled finding the time to do it on my own so having set appointments even on shift hours was great and the support I received from my manger was also fantastic.
My employer was fantastic with me doing an apprenticeship program giving me the time to complete courses and having meetings with my trainer as long as it was not on a busy day or shift they where very reasonable with the time they gave me to complete my course. Great support
I recived all the support needed from my trainer to complete the course like I wrote before it was very difficult to get a trainer who was consistent in meetings and helping through the course but when I got one that did not have to commute to far to see me it was very easy to complete the with there support.
With the training I received I am now more capable in my job role and more confident having the knowledge that what I was doing was right and some thing I was taught in the workplace was bad practice so therefore with my new knowledge I can now work with better and safer practice.
No there has been no extra curricular actives in the workplace that I worked in at the time they did try a football team and a pool team but neither came to anything this was just due to the team at the time.nit being engaged in what was provided/offered to them.
No
Pay was minimal wage for the work expected every employee worked with different roles other then there own yes it helped out the rest of the team but it puts extra strain on employee who sometimes aren't even trainer for that role found the mangers to be number driven instead of looking after the staff.
Expect to work long hours and to not receive any extra rewards. Don't do more then your job role description because you will be expected to do it all the the time witch isent always practical don't over work yourself and never let y The job destroy your personal life too much.
