  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • in my role I do contract changes, voucher requests, general enquiries and work on the myrecruit system involving onboarding, DBS, hanover DBS, adding volunteers to MSS. I also use the askhr call support line 2 days a week so i answer queries over the phone, which is usually for help on the myrecruit system

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt better communication (written and verbal) I have received great training on different software such as Cherwell, Outlook, Myrecruit, MSS and more. I have developed my understanding of what HR is and what it entails, I have also developed my skills in call answering as at first i wasn't confident

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy what i do, it gives me the opportunity to expand my knowledge in HR and learn more about the care/ housing service. I enjoy the work i get involved in as it is always new work to learn, my course keeps me learning new things and helps my development.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My course is structured as I have constant development in my work as well as in my coursework as the level of learning always increases. My team and manager always pushes me to exceed my expectation in my work standard and push me to the highest of standards. great stuff

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i receive a lot of support from my manager and my team. From the beginning of my apprenticeship till now they have always encourage me to do more work and work outside of my skill set and develop my knowledge. I always have the support to do new things at work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • It depends on the situation. If i want to get in touch with them, i wouldn't get a response for a few weeks. However, when i involve the training team at anchor hanover i get a faster response. I receive support when im with the training provider only not online

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has widened my knowledge on HR, and is helping me to develop to go towards a higher qualification. My qualification links to the work i do and helps me exceed my work as i have developed my skills through work and my coursework. My qualification pushes me to do the best

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Occasionally, i have been involved in the apprenticeship week, which entails charity work which was donating clothes from the support service building and went to the T&A and the company newspaper, going to Schemes doing a bake off, monthly huddles with the support service building, team fuddle to boost team moral.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Anchor helps push start your career and helps development and pushes you to exceed. It's a great organisation to do an apprenticeship with as there is many options of different teams / qualifications, you have supportive teams such as the training team and your own. i would definitely recommended anchor


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Anchor Trust?
  • use the time you have as an apprentice as having one day a week to do your coursework is a great benefit, get involved in as much as you can and push your development as far as you can and show interest in the work you do as it can help your career development
