  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Ensuring he cleaniness of the customers flat and communal areas of the location, following risk assessment and policies to ensure my own health and safety and that of other, clean bedrooms, bathrooms, communal lounges, corridor, sit and chat with customers, provide and take part in activities with them, report any concerns if i have any

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • New skills such as being more confident in my approach to others, being able to hold more conversations with other, meeting other apprentices and being able to share same or similair experiences, how to support customers with dementia, undertaking moving and handling training, how to report actual or suspected abuse

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying the programme as this has given me a real insight into working with vulnerable adults, I get to socialise with them and do activities with them, get to know what they did when they was younger, favorite music, hobbies anything we share in common that get start a conversation

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At our very first induction we where given the standards of the qualification, then how the visits would be planned in with the training provider babcock, how often they would visit and what to expect, all visits are planned, each month I am aware what I have to complete before the next visit

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My location is very supportive, I have a buddy on each shift, a mentor, I also have apprentice advisor who will answer any questions regarding my programme, i am not counted in staff numbers so have a study day also to complete any work set, there is always someone to go to if i am unsure of anything

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Training provider is very helpful, each visit we sit down and look at my progress then look throigh the units to see what still has to be completed, the RT is very supportive, does not rush me makes sure i fully understand what i need to do, is available my text or call before my next visit if needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • gave me a better understanding in customer service, how to store and use safely cleaning products, how to record and report faulty equipment, how to check equipment safely, how to complete legal paper work. Better communication skills with customers, colleagues and other professionals, to be confident in my approach with others

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, lots of opportunities to do project to help others, recently organise a charity event for homeless in Derby, collected food items, clothing, blankets and donated to local homeless shelter, opportunities to visit schools, careers fairs, talk with others, ambassors for health and social care, attend award ceremonies we are nominated for.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Really supportive, great structured programme, where you know your progress, help always on hand, good pay and annual leave entitlement, get to have fun also and gain a great qualification, get to meet up with other apprentices across Anchor, get to travel to various locations, get to bring and use our own ideas to support vulnerable adults


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Anchor Trust?
  • Just go for it, dont be afraid to ask questions, you will get the support, make sure you do have correct ID for DBS and can give to referees, always write things down, if you unsure of anything always tell them, just be yourself, prepare for hard work, be committed you will enjoy
