  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am the assistant manager in a managed house for Green king. Roles involve...cashing up, locking up, starting the day, working the bar, doing rotas for the staff team, accessing emails, line checks, managing staff, being responsible for the pub while the manager is away.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. I feel that my team leading skills improved lots. Also my confidence in public speaking.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I connected really well with all my trainers.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Greene King?
  • I feel like the above people know I'm hungry for the job and I am ready to step up.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Monthly meetings and check ins via email/text/phone in between visits. Towards the end of the course I had more regular visits too.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I felt fully supported. The trainers knew when I needed a lush but also gave help where they knew I needed it.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Couldn't ask for anymore support.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It isn't great but just about manageable. I have only recently switched to salary and it's very different to what I'm used to.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes lots in all areas. Be that bar, kitchen, management, training.

  • 9. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Green King has always been a good company to work for on my opinion. Yes the pay is poor but the support and training you can receive if you put yourself out is emense. Green King have great training programmes that are all funded for you and they will do whatever it takes to get you through the course!


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Don't be put off by the pay, take everything you can training wise and you will soon achieve your goals and prove to the company that you are worth more and you will have a long and successful career!
