  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role was learning about team leading and looking at things from a management perspective, to help me to understand how the industry works and how I can help be a part of it's success

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoyed participating in this programme as it has given me a whole new perspective on how the industry works and helps me understand things that I previously found difficult to do so

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Greene King?
  • Ever since completing this course, my current managers have been looking to improve other aspects of my work to try and get me to a position in which I could become a team leader if the opportunity arises and I have been told that some members of the company are happy with my progress and would like to see me take on more responsibility, which does make me feel more valuable to them

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • This programme is definitely one of the most organised things I have ever done, but I found it very helpful that I could also progress at my own speed, allowing me to work around my job and not spend all waking hours either working or doing coursework. There were deadlines for everything, but I found that said deadlines were very spaced out.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I received a lot of support from my trainer. During this course there were points where I had a lot on my mind and struggled to focus on things for a certain length of time, yet she managed to keep me on the right path and guide me in the direction to the answers I needed without giving them away. She always made sure I came up with the answers myself, but helped me find the way if I wasn't on the right track.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer gave me as much time as they could to do the work. If I was supposed to be working on a day I had a training session, they would try to give me a slightly longer break if they could to give me a little more time to do the work. They also let me set up a meeting to show my skills in running a group discussion and gave me any information about the company that I required throughout the course

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The course was supplied and paid for by Greene King, so there wasn't really any costs for me on this course, although I was not paid for my time on this course, I still felt that it was a great way to move forward in my career

    9/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I'm personally not aware of Greene King offering anything outside of work as such, but I have known situations in which people have done things like this that aren't through the company and I have always felt that it has been encouraged

    5/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Greene King are always trying to improve themselves and make their pubs the best that they can be. Their main focus is achieving the best customer experience that they can. They understand that without customers, their would be no Greene King, & have given many training courses to help their teams understand that.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • I have found that at times, my job can be very stressful, but if you grind it out and stick with it, the positives outweigh the negatives. I would be lying if I said that there weren't times in which I have wanted to quit, but I have always been assured that things will improve and become easier, & they have every single time, if you can survive the storm, there is a great sense of pride waiting for you at the end
