  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a member representative, I serve customers at the counter, the enquiry room and the conversation table. I help people with every day transactions from deposits, withdrawals, payments and transfers, as well as more complex enquiries such as registering power of attorneys, bereavements and assisting with signposting additional support. I also deal with account openings and educating customers around digital services.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have become more aware of the importance of the digital journey and the consumer duty. I have also learned about neo-banks, challenger banks and different forms of AI services available in banking.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the element of writing down the interactions I have, as it shows the impact it has on the customer, the team and the organisation, as I wouldn't have thought about my role in those terms before.

  • I feel this programme is very well structured as each section flows nicely into the next.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have been very well supported by my employer, as I have consistently been given the allocated time to complete my apprenticeship hours. This has been a challenge at times, due to transferring to a smaller branch and not having the level of cover as my previous one. Hours have been amended to suit

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My coach has always been on hand and responds quickly if I am stuck or need advice.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel this course has improved my confidence as it has taught me new skills and helped me to understand how much I know already.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are charity events I get involved with alongside my team and there are also networking events which are open to all from time to time.

  • Yes

  • I feel Nationwide is a very inclusive environment in which you can learn new skills and there are lots of opportunities to develop and evolve within your career.

  • If you are a people person, this is an ideal organisation to work for. You get to deal with people from all backgrounds as customers and colleagues and you will be supported throughout your journey.
