  • I am a front of house team leader. My job roles include opening up, closing down, leading a team, serving customers, handling money, running food, clearing tables, talking to customers, helping new members of staff, cellar management, cleaning, sorting rotas, doing team hours, looking at labour vs sales, setting targets

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to be a better leader using different leadership methods explained in the apprenticeship. I have learnt how to handle different personalities to suit each individual need. I have learnt about profit and loss and how to set realistic budgets. I have learnt how to develop plans to help me and others.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme because it is teaching me many different aspects of my job. I am learning more about back of house. I am also enjoying learning about leadership styles and ways to improve myself in order to help others. I am also enjoying the easy learning of it.

  • My programme is well structured and well organised. There is always help if it is needed no matter how small the problem is. It can adapt around work and home life. Also most of the off the job training is already things you do day to day in your job role already.

  • I receive more than enough support from my employer. He gives me encouragement, praise and the opportunity to put what I have learnt in to practice. If I have any questions about any of the modules then I know I can call him and ask for help. The support has been amazing.

  • I receive more than enough support from my training provider. They always give me encouragement, praise and the opportunity to put what I have learnt in to practice. If I have any questions about any of the modules then I know I can call and ask for help. The support has been amazing.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am only half way through and I feel I am already performing better. I have learnt so much that I wouldn't know. I feel it has helped me be the best version of me at work and has helped improve the quality of my work. My key subject is leadership.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • In my place of work there are no extra curricular activities as we are one of our areas highest profit business. We do however have staff parties that include bowling, paint balling, food and drinks as well as team meetings. Also when new food menus come out we all get together and have a cook off.

  • I would recommend greene king to a friend as they treat you well. We get amazing staff discounts within greene king as well as team member benefits. We also have friends and family discount that we can send to 10 people. The job progression is amazing and the learning opportunities are second to none.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • The advice i would give to others applying to greene king is be yourself. If your looking for a job that you can feel valued in then greene king is the perfect employer. The progression and learning opportunities will not be matched by other businesses and greene king are supportive.
