  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Managing the pub alongside my general manager. I care for the customers and staff and coach them to achieve amazing things. I also work back of house to produce fantastic food for the customers to enjoy. I also provide friendly service to all I come across to pour happiness into lives.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Customer service skills, finance skills! I'm much better with maths now. Communication skills, I can talk to all sorts of people and find ways to communicate with them in a polite professional manner. I can also do a lot of hands on jobs like changing gas, barrels and post mix. I can also cook the entire menu.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It's amazing to learn new skills. It's also been great to learn why I do the things I do. Applying the stuff I've learnt is very satisfying. Learning new skills like communication and body language helps in my day to day job. These skills are applicable to real life situations

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Aptem was difficult to get used to. It has a lot of issues as it is a new app. However the dashboard is great to showing me exactly where I am and what I need to focus on. The learning is great and all links in with other topics which help me make the links to understand better.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer knows I don't need to be pestered and that I will go to them when I need support. They are happy to help however they can. If I have a question they do their best to explain it to me or to find out the answer so we can learn together.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I know that whenever I need to I can ask them questions and they get back to me as soon as they can. They explain things using things I have knowledge on so I can make the connections and understand better. If I am really stuck on a topic they set up a learning meeting with me.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • All my new knowledge helps me understand how to work better and more efficient. Communication helps me communicate with my team and customers and the finance module helps me understand why I need to do the things I need to do and what exactly it is for. The different matrix help me in my future meetings and plans

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There isn't at the moment but we do meet up to have drinks and go out together. I belive this team bonding is very important to build bonds. I wish we had extra curricular things to do but we don't get enough time off as we are a smaller pub.
