  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role as a waitress/ front of house is to work with the customers, to ensure they have a good experience. running food, taking orders, cleaning and laying tables. also working on the bar doing drinks for both customers in the restaurant and the bar area and washing glasses and cleaning bar after the shifts.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • since working here i have learnt new skills such as communication and being more confident within myself and what i do. learning about the different drinks and pouring them correctly. also learnt how to do potwash and how to make certain desserts for customers. the skills im still am developing as things such as working with door host and learning to use the booking system to books people in for meals.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The program can be a lot of work if you dont keep up to date with it but i enjoy it alot, being able to learn new skills i didnt have and thing that i wouldnt have learn otherwise. being able to learn on the job and getting paid is a bonus too as, but i enjoy it and very happy i chose to do it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the program is very organised it has dates for the work which is all in order from what dates i need to do it in. all the documents which i need or may need are all easy for me to access and it also shows me where im working at and how much i need to do towards my apprenticeship.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i receive alot of support from my employer, she offers help and support whenever i need it. also teaching me new skills around the business such as bar and allowing me to learn through my mistakes. also supporting me in anything eles that is happening at work eirther with customers or staff, and allowing me to talk to her when i need to or need extra support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • After changing over from a different person and now being settled with a new trainer, i have recived alot more support and got a more stable and consistent work plan for what im doing. being able to have more frequent meetings means i get more support and helped throughout the course.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the qualification helps me to perform better in my role as im constantly learning new skills and knowledge and also doing the qualification means i can keep my skills steady and constantly using them. being able to do this qualification has also allowed me to become more confident in myself.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • working with the macmillan charity rasing money through raffles and donations, i have taken part in do this raising money which i done just before christmas. and also event which we have in the function room such as wedding, partys, baby showers, funeral wakes and sometimes we do event such as bingo night for charitys, we have also have new years eve party and other things.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • First job ive has where ive enjoyed coming to work and loved thr people i work with, after struggling with mental health and in my old jobs coming here has helped to make my anxiety better overall and helped me feel more confident. the work environment and support which is there is amazing and recommening other people to work here would be somthing i would do and have done


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • tips and advice id give to anyone applying to greene king is to be preapred for when you work, christmas day, mothers day and the long hours and busy and areas and times we have. and also be preapred to work everywhere, bar kitchen and floor aswell. and be aware that the hours with change, somtimes there will be lots of hours available and other times there wont be
