  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work within Bowring marsh and i am an apprentice property account holder. Within my role i have to do Quality assurance checks of contracts to make sure they all have the correct information in them, and i also have to make changes to the contract which i find or have been requested by the client.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned basic skill such as writing out formal emails to brokers. I have also learnt about the world of insurance and how it works. Furthermore i have develeoped better communication skills as my job relies on good communication through emails, calls or messages to the brokers in london.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme i am currentky on because i am learning something new every day, I also have a good team which are very approchable and willing to help me learn and pass their knowledge on. Further more, joining with other apprentices has made me feel less pressure as i can talk to my peers for help with apprenticeship work if needed.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme i am currently on is run quite well, all the induction processes were done well, and the online learning they do is clear and easy to follow. Also the workday system they have for people to complete online learning is usefull as i can log onto it and learn new things at any time

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieve lots of support when needed. For example when i joined my team they were approchable and ready to help me at any point needed, Sharing all their knowledge to me so then i can progress. Also the people around me, not just in my team are all helpful and are always at hand if needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have recieved lots of support from my provider during this apprenticeship. Not only with learning my role but also my apprenticeship work set by the provider. Also they have helped me settle in with my team and the company. I believe that i have recieved a significant amount needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The apprenticeship is very clear with its goals and i believe it is helping learn my role better. I have to learn about how the insurance market works which helps me understand how the work i am doing can change at any instant and also allows me to have a greater understanding of the insurnace world.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are extra curricular activities i can get involved in, such as the Marsh football team which has been started up (5 a side team), Also there are many groups i can get involved in such as the young proffesionals. Also we have brokers from london come down and when they do we socialise alot with them.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Marsh McLennan to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Everyone is really friendly at marsh and will welcome you with open arms. Also marsh has a good wage and packages that ome with it for people joining, such as discounts in local shops. Also marsh has good job security for emloyees as it has strong foundations within the insurance market.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marsh McLennan?
  • be open to learning something new as the insurance market is always changing with the external environment. Make sure when you complete the interviews you research about the company and the insurance market. Simply be you in the interviews as they want to know a bit about you which is good.
