  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • To maintain and run a small team of people and small store following legal compliancy and KPI compliances. To give great customer service from great stock availability and great colleagues. I train my team and encourage them to bring their best selves to work, I always aim to lead by example.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • YES!!! I have learnt so much from strategies to team building understanding. My personal growth as a leader has been noticed by many people, I understand how emotional intelligence plays a significant part of leadership and these learnings have helped me to continue to do my job but better than before.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have loved every hard working minute of it, from great tutors who I wish I had had at school! To gaining confidence in my role and pushing my self to do things I would never have done prior to the programme, It has been a life changing experience for me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well organised, considering it was held during various lockdowns due to covid, the communication has been brilliant and where necessary on line learning took place when face to face could not happen. The study blocks were clearly run through with the objectives of the day/s being highlighted and at the end reviewed.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Fantastic support from my line manager but the business as a whole is difficult to navigate to find the right information needed to complete some of the apprenticeship pieces. Taking the 20% off the job learning was challenging due to the Covid problems and aiming to ensure the store stayed open.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Fantastic support. My tutor has always been available and the other lecturers have been accessible easily via email or phone calls. Help advice and continuous support I have received during this programme from all the teaching staff. One to one guidance if I needed it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has given me the confidence in myself to look to continuously improve my personal development, apply for other roles within the business I work, alongside with gaining the confidence to speak with senior leaders on a more level footing, something I could not have done prior to the programme.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • No not at the moment

  • 9a. Would you recommend Co-op to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The Coops purpose is to cooperate for a fairer world. For me that is reason enough to want to work for a business that shares it knowledge with other business e.g., compostable carrier bags, to support the world in which we live.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • Always do what matters most. Be yourself always. Show you care and you will succeed together with your team. Be prepared to work hard and share your passions with the communities we serve. Always go above and beyond what is expected and then you will be a coop colleague.
