  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Operational Procurement is the fast paced, low value, low risk buying experience for Co-op. Following the same processes as our Procurement professionals but on a smaller scale to reduce risk to the business and try to get savings where possible.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Prior to this role, I did not have Procurement experience and only limited knowledge. So through my role I have been able to increase my Knowledge of this process.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I strongly enjoyed the programme I was enrolled on. It was challenging, informative and hands on. Co-op was also very supportive through the programme as well to ensure I was set up for success.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There was a slight delay at the start of my programme due to the beginning of Covid-19 whilst the provider worked out how to continue the course virtually. But overall the course was well structured, kept to the timescale given at the start and kept me informed of changes.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My line manager provided plenty of time and opportunities to engage my external studies as well as in work shadowing to help see my learning in practice. My immediate colleagues were also extremely helpful with guidance and knowledge sharing to bring the courses to life.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Regular interactive virtual learning sessions, revision session, recordings and marked course work with constructive feedback. Every 10-12 weeks updates with a specific mentor to ensure I was on track with my course and to raise any issues I was having.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As I started this programme with very little active knowledge of the processes and procedures for my role, I think the training provided provided a very thorough overview of the roles and were able to provide life working examples of them in practice to help further understanding.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many different activities which can be joined and participated in within Co-op. We try to regularly arrange social get togethers with our direct teams and create charity events. And many opportunities to reach out if you have the passion for it, such as an office DND community.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I strongly agree with Co-op values, work ethic and believe they are a very strong employer. My experience over 6 years at Co-op is a strong work life balance which Co-op try their best to support, also providing their employees with a large number of benefits and career progression.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • If you want a sense of family and friendship then Co-op is right for you. Come in as a team player and strong work ethic and Co-op will help and support you with almost anything you need.
