  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since starting my apprenticeship I refreshed my maths skills which I needed, some of which I hadn’t practiced for a long while. I also achieved my care certificate alongside studying for my apprenticeship. I felt the apprenticeship helped me develop a better understanding of my role as a support worker.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed refreshing my English and maths skills as I don’t use all of these skills very often so it’s easy to forget. I put a lot of effort into the apprenticeship and was very happy being given the opportunity to achieve it. Having the one to one face to face support with my tutor was really helpful and being able to contact my tutor on other occasions when needed all helped towards my learning.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My tutor helped me organise a planned learning schedule to help me keep on track to ensure I completed on time as I had a set timescale. Level 2 English and maths skills needed to be achieved to begin with to be able to qualify for the apprenticeship.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer made it possible for me to achieve the apprenticeship by funding this for me. My manager and fellow colleagues were always approachable when I needed any support with my learning and were on hand to help me find relevant documents needed for me to complete my course work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I had arranged face to face time with my tutor and was able to contact my tutor via video call, email, phone call and message throughout my apprenticeship. My tutor was dedicated to my learning and would put in the time to help me understand anything that I was struggling with.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • At the beginning of the apprenticeship my tutor assessed my preferred way of learning, by finding out if I learn easier in a practical/physical way or a mental way. I believe I answered questions which helped my tutor find this out, my tutor then supported me in my preferred way of learning.
