  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day task vary as Morgan Sindall put you on a rotation scheme where you complete 6 rotations for 6 months in Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Site Management, Engineering, Design Management and Planning. I could be site based one day and then I could be working in the office the next which his great as everyday is a different day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • While going through the rotation scheme I have learnt new skills on each rotation varying from people skills to computer skills. I have learnt the commercial side of a main contractor and how we operate on site and all of our processes. Morgan Sindall is a great place to learn as they give you the time you need to gain the experience in the industry which helps a great deal in the long term.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my time at Morgan Sindall and I couldn't speak more highly about the rotation scheme all apprentices go through. You can gain so much experience in different roles and learn so much about yourself that you may have not known due to being put in different scenarios within the industry.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organized as your university is all sorted by Morgan Sindall you won't need to worry about a thing. We have quarterly trainee meetings so everyone can come to together and discuss what they have been up to and what they have learnt which may help others. You also have two appraisals a year to discuss how you are getting on and every rotation is on a 6 month basis. Overall it is a very well structured programme.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support I have received has been excellent so far when ever I have needed to ask someone a question or needed support I feel I can just pick up the phone and someone will be able to help me. Everyone at Morgan Sindall is very welcoming and wants to help you learn and progress in construction.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider are very supporting when it comes to working towards my qualification they are always around to answer any questions about assessments or exams weather that be in person or by email. They will never just give you the answers but they will guide you in the right direction.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The knowledge you learn at university is useful on a day to day basis at work as you take the things you learn at university into the real world and practice what you have learnt. It will also give you the confidence in your role that you understand a bit about what you are doing.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Morgan Sindall offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities from company day outs, volunteering, professional networking and fundraising activities. These activities all help you get to know new people and the colleagues you work with. You are able to meet new people and to gain contacts which may be useful in the future.

  • Yes

  • For anyone looking to get into a career in construction Morgan Sindall is the best place to do this as they have a great apprenticeship programme which has been successful for years as most of the people you work with have been at the company since they left college or university and have gone through the rotation scheme Morgan Sindall has to offer. They allow you time to gain experience and they know when the time is right for you to gain even more.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Morgan Sindall?
  • Be yourself and complete as much work experience as you can before you apply this is great for already getting one foot in the door and gives you the opportunity to show what you can do. Make sure you CV and covering letter are professional and there are no spelling mistakes and be yourself in the Interview process.
