  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently in the Client support services and I am in the fiduciary role. I have to deal with the cash between clients and markets and making sure all money are paid on time and checking the outstanding balances we require from certain companies that require to be paid immediately.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've familiarised myself more with excel, as I have to use it everyday. Furthermore, I have also learnt how to use Open twins and different software for the company. I've learnt to be more analytical when comparing cash and figuring out which one needs to go where or where they are coming from.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am currently really enjoying my programme as it is in the sector I really wanted to work in. I have always loved maths so having this role at the moment I am eager to learn more. Even though, some of the things may seem repetitive, when doing a different client there is always something that is different so I'm always learning something new.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I get full help from my colleagues without a problem. Even though, we are working virtually, I do not have any trouble getting through to them. Moreover, they will move me around different roles which means I will be getting a wider understanding of the different roles and what they do and also understand how reinsurance works.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do not have any problem getting through to my employer. Every time, I am stuck on something or in doubt what to do, if I give them a call on teams or just message them they will help me straight away. We have a team meeting once a week and we are able to tell our manager if we are having any troubles with anything.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I believe at the moment, we are getting a lot of support from everyone involved in the apprenticeship programme. I haven't yet met my coach which I will be doing in the upcoming weeks. However, whenever we require any help with anything that we are in doubt of we always have someone to reach out to.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am able to understand more about what each role does and how the insurance sector works. Working and studying at the same time helps me understand more of what I am doing and why I am doing it. More understanding of the company itself works and what they expect from their employees.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At the moment, we haven't yet been able to do any extra activities due to COVID. However, we have been told as a team building exercise they do volunteering work. There are many online networking events we have had since the time I have started in the company where the CEO gives us an update on the industry, the company and just how the employees are doing.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Marsh McLennan to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I believe Marsh gives a lot of opportunity for everyone. They do not only focus on doing well for the company but they are very caring about their employees wellbeing and needs. They will guide you through the right path and listen to which path you would like to go through and help you to achieve that.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marsh McLennan?
  • Always put effort of getting to know everyone in your team and reach out to anyone else you believe you think would help you in your career. Make use of the events that are organised as it is your time to shine and get to know people in the profession. Whenever you don't understand anything or you in doubt always reach out to your manager or anyone you think would be able to help as it is better to get your doubt cleared than do something wrong.
