  • Assisting with work in the North American property treaty broking team whilst committing 20% of hours to off-job training.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Developed communication skills hugely throughout the integration process of joinging a new team in a fast paced, broking house environment. Have also learned how to use several insurance-specific IT platforms ]in the course of my work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme has been amazing and working at Guy Carpenter has introduced me to some great, insightful people as well as an exciting industry that does not get nearly enough exposure to young, finance-minded school leavers.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is incredibly well structured and support is always available from a personally allocated mentor. You are provided with the resources and access to imprtant examinations and guided through the process to great detail.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Communicqtion channels are clearly communicated and understood. Everyone is incredibly easy to get on with and any issues, personal or work, can be taken to my manager, mentor or the department allocated HR rep.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have been allocated a mentor since the very start who has been of great use to me when needed. Physical learning resources are provided and online platforms are easy to use and plentiful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification I have undertken has proved to align with my day to day work seamlessly. Context is provided which makes understanding parts of my role much easier and increases my ability to provide valuable input in discussions.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra-curricular activities/groups. Sports teams are plentiful, charity opportunities are an email away and support groups numerous.

  • Yes

  • It is a great place to work, learn and improve. Professional development is encouraged and the atmosphere is perfect to operate in and enjoy.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marsh McLennan?
  • Research the industry, young people are not exposed to the actual practices behind insurance enough. Going in with a base knowledge is unendingly helpful. Otherwise, realise when you have an opportunity and take every one that comes your way. Commit to learning, improving and being part of a good team.
