  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role sits within the Broker Support team within the Facultative reinsurance division. My role finds me working with our placement brokers through renewal initiations, new business initiations, as well as any indorsements or queries we have ongoing throughout the year. I have to work with my team to ensure everything is up to date.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Absolutely. I have learnt many new skills such as communication with clients, including good customer service and what that looks like. I have also developed my knowledge of the insurance industry, in particular the reinsurance market within the London Market and Lloyd's of London. I am working towards the Cert CII qualification.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel as though my qualification will definitely help me in my role, especially since I will be doing the London Markets specific Cert CII exams, which are particularly relevant to my role as I will be working in the London office, and will be located near Lloyd's of London

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, we will be organising lots of social events throughout the year to network and catch up with our cohort that we joined with in March. The organisers of the apprenticeship are very keen for us to set these up and schedule time in our diaries for this, especially in the current COVID situation which means we cannot meet in person.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Marsh McLennan to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think the size of the company makes it a great opportunity to expose yourself to a range of business areas and be able to work alongside some of the best people in the industry. The company clearly cares about their employees which was very clear during my induction process

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marsh McLennan?
  • Definitely do your research on not only the company, but the qualification you will be working towards too. I'd reccomend reaching out to anybody you know at the industry, or try to find someone you can have a conversation with to hear about their experiences to see if it is right for you.
