  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently at Customer Team member level and interact with our customers on a daily basis. Stocking the shelves, working on the tills and doing the food reductions each day. I also work with money and am training to be management level.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have learned a lot of new skills including what laws and legislations are involved in the retail business. As well as this there are new skills I have developed around my confidence in what I am doing and how I can make my store the best it can be.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I’m really enjoying how engaging it is considering we are in a pandemic. All our conferences are on teams. I like how we have virtual courses and work to complete but am able to always get in touch with my coach if I need a hand. I also like how I am learning on the job alongside at home learning.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At first it was quite confusing to use but as I am getting used to it, it’s a lot easier to know what I am doing. Normally some sessions would have been in person but due to the pandemic this has had to change to online. Given the circumstances, it has been set out well.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have gained so much knowledge and confidence in what I am doing with all the support I get. Knowing people think I’m doing a good job makes me feel like I will succeed. I also enjoy the learning conferences on team to gain more knowledge I can use whilst at work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not at the moment due to lockdown. We used to go out for a meal or night out once or twice a year to get together and relax a bit.
