  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role in audit is to generally perform testing of certain accounts that have been selected to be tested, e.g. Sales, purchases. We normally select samples from there listing to be tested, once this is done you would communicate with the client to obtain relevant support, this may be over email or if you are at client site generally one to one conversations.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have most definitely improved my communication and confidence since working at EY, everyone is so friendly so it makes it so much easier to communicate and feel more confident in the role you are performing. Working with a variety of different people also helps develop these skills especially when talking to clients and senior people.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my job at the moment all though some people may think audit can be boring I feel this as not been the case as the people you work with are so easy to get along with making the job a lot more enjoyable. Developing good client relationships also helps communication and the job itself a lot easier.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • So far I am yet to sit any exams however in terms of the introduction process I would say it has been very well structured, the buddy scheme has most definitely helped me settle in, especially when learning where to go and the start of meeting and creating relationships with other people.

  • Quite a lot actually, they are constantly checking up to see how you are handling the first few weeks at EY, regular emails and calls with the apprenticeship teams, my buddy is also very willing for chats every so often and my counsellor is also someone who tracks my progress and development.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There are monthly online courses that are on offer and many resources that they provide for the first exam that I have in May, they offer a support line for any queries that I may have, which I feel is a very good idea especially when it come to the exam period.

  • So far it is quite hard to tell as i have only had one week of college across the 6 months at EY, however this week i feel taught me the basics and gave me a very good understanding on how audit generally works and the skills that i need to adapt well to certain tasks.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes the most definitely is, regular social events, after work football etc. Especially around Christmas the main social for the whole of audit really stood out, a huge celebration with food drinks entertainment such as bumper cars, photo booths, dancers, DJs etc. Even the department ones are just as exciting, we have got indoor golf next at the end of the month
