My role as a receptionist is dealing with the day to day running of a busy hotel. Currently working in 2 hotels we are accountable for guests, health and safety, cash handling and smooth running of checking people and in and out and dealing with requests and complaints from guests staying in our hotel.
While working on the desk I have developed team building skills further extending my skills to work with other hotels in area. I have further developed my hospitality and customer service skills, working with customers all my working life it has been extended to further training such as how to deal with feedback and complaints that may arise.
I am enjoying my programme a lot as I’m gaining further training in the day to day life of hospitality l, how I can handle working across the company in different aspects of the job, also gaining knowledge of have to run a business and how to keep up a good standard.
My programme is well structured as I’m given work to complete to a certain standard and to further develop my skills. Also monthly meetings with tutor who will be there for further support when needed and is very easily contactable when I need assistance they are always there for support.
My employer is very supportive, they are very contactable and and always there when I need them, always there when I am struggling with something I may not have come across, something that may need further assistance I am able to contact over email or over the phone when needed.
Nicola is extremely helpful. She is super easy to get along with she is also friendly when I’m struggling with work it I am stuck on something that I may not have come across before. The work that I am set is helpful towards my day to job role.
All of my training helps me in my day to day job, it gives me with insite on how to work with guests how to deal with complaints if we get them. Also how to run a business, being on shift on your own and how to deal with the buisness side.
Apart from working I like to attend the gym and to spend time with family and friends when I’m away from work. I enjoy going out with friends, also enjoy swimming. I don’t have any other outside curricular activities that I partake in when I am not working.
Yes
Whitbread is a great way to step up if you want to become more management, there is equal opportunity to do this by working all part of the job, different job roles, you also get a rewards card for discount on stores, restaurants and hotels and other perks at work
I would say go in with an open mind and take everything at your own pace, be willing to progress in the company as you will be given every opportunity and support while working for the company. Take notes and always ask questions when needed as you will progress further in your learning
