  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Checking people in. Security. Cleaning the hotel. Fixing any issues a guest may have.

    10/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've always worked in customer service but never on such an intimate 1 on 1 scale. I'm getting to know how people think and can often resolve a situation just as quickly as it arrives.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Very much. I have a brilliant coach who is always available, should I have any questions.

    10/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very. The way the website is set out, was a little daunting at first but makes perfect sense. Easy to navigate.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My immediate manager (aka assistant hotel manager) is always available with assistance. The hotel manager is harder to get hold of as she works at 3 different sites at different times of the day.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • 100%. She's brilliant. She gives me clear instructions as to which ones she's thinks I should be doing next and sets me concise deadlines.

    10/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Again. 100%. There's so much information that I have been given to help in upcoming situations but also, she coaxes out of me, information that I already know and how it can be utilised.

    10/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not that I've noticed. As soon as I have some spare time, I will definitely look into it.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Whitbread to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • An army is only as strong as the trust you have for the man next to you. With clear goals, all team members can row in the same direction.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
  • Get to know the habits of your regular guests and staff. The ability to fit in with a team, will help you so much in the future.
