  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I deal with and also arrange funerals for clients who have lost someone on a day to day basis either by phone, email or face to face, no client is the same. I also deal with the accounts of the clients, making sure all their invoices are correct and up to date.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed new skills such as how to speak to someone who is grieving and is going through a tough time, how to reassure them and make them feel a bit more at ease. I would say I have developed my computer skills by having to learn how to use new programmes.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme as it is giving me a chance to learn new skills, new areas in my work that I might not know as well, aswell as develop any skills I may have felt needed developing, topics I knew a little about but not as much as I need to.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very organised, I know what step is next and how many steps there are still to go, my tutorials/assessments are planned in advance so I know when and what is needed for that time, and all workbooks are sent out to me with enough time to be able to complete them

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support, I can either contact my tutor by email or phone, or face to face, I feel I can ask any question and get a sensible answer, I also receive guidance and reviews on assessment days so I know where I could improve if needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel it gives me a better understanding of my role, even if I feel like I know a lot about the role already, there seems to always be more to learn so that I can support the clients better if its a subject I was not so confident on.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are Community events to get involved in if I set them up or approach other networks. There are networks you can get involved in like working with Hospices or charities on Open days or charity events to get to know others as part of the Community role side of the job .

  • 9a. Would you recommend Co-op to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a well know company to work for with a good reputation from the clients to employees. The company pays well and the team I work with are all easy to get along with. Team benefits are also an incentive to get money off shopping or money off Funerals

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • It is a long process to go through with many steps and 2 interviews, being yourself helps on interviews so they know if you are suited or not for the job, for me it was worth it to be able to work the job that I want to work and feel happier than in my last employment.
