  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My current role is to utilize data to solve queries on behalf of the company on a day to day basis. This would involve creating SQL queries, building tables and formatting them so as to best allow colleagues and partners to best find the information. We can also investigate our own queries as well.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have already learnt many new skills. I have learnt to write sql queries to use Power BI both to manipulate data and create reports. I have learnt many new uses to excel , including the use of pivtot tables. It has also given me insight on which reporting information to best use .

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I find the programme incredibly enjoyable, i learn new skills everyday and get to utilize the skills and knowledge of colleagues who are more than happy to help me advance and learn. It is a great atmosphere and one that is set up to better push to improve my skill set.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Currently i am learning skills on the job prior to taking on the learning aspect. This is given me a good ground knowledge to prepare myself for the upcoming role. This also helps to improve my confidence and allows me to b able to understand what the expectations of my role is.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have all the support I need from my employer. I have regular meetings to check on my progress where my opinion is taken on board to better help my learning experience. I have all then tools I need and am able to spend time studying those tools that better allow me to fulfill my role

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As I am still waiting to start my course I can only comment on their communication an so far it has been good. The have supplied me all the information i need regarding the course with exact dates and schedules for the classes. This allows me to better plan my year.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As I now understand my role and what the training will involve it looks like it will give me a good base knowledge and support all I hav e learnt by supplying me with a qualification that represents my skill set and allows me to move forward in my role as I see fit.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My company offers may extra activities, whether i be social events which allow us to spend time to get to know colleagues to yoga classes and well-being weeks. There are also several parties a year which are fully catered and go all out to ensure they are events to be remembered.

  • Yes

  • Booking.com is a great company to work for as they do actually care about helping you develop so you can help move them for forward. They also spend time to ensure the needs of their employees are met and that we work in a good environment. It is always striving to be better.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Booking.com?
  • Keep applying, ensure your cover letter says what it needs to say. Be confident in yourself and ensure that you are ready to sell your skills and your potential. Don't be put off for applying for roles outside your comfort zone. As long as you can show you are competent at the skills needed the company is willing to take a chance to ensure they help you become the best version you yourself.
