  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Role as a funeral Arranger is to liaise with families of the deceased and the Funeral Director to help arrange the funeral. Order hymn sheets and obituary notices. Daily administration in the office includes spreadsheet, banking, telephone calls, taking payments from clients and communicating with local crematorium, cemetery, hospitals, ministers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot more about my role and have gained so much more knowledge of how to deal with clients and colleagues. Learnt interesting information from modules that I will he able to use within my job and help and advise my colleagues with their roles within funeral care.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoyed my program as I learnt so many interesting things about the business especially the law side of it. Very informative and excellent material for me to research further if I needed. Enjoyed learning about other roles within the business and how we all work together for our clients.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure and organisation of the program is outstanding. Modules were informative and interesting which made them easier to complete. Easy links to research more information to add to my module. Support from [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was excellent, always there if I needed help on my module or answers on the programme.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I had great support from my employer which enabled me to work on my modules in work time and use laptops and printers to complete. Gave me the opportunity to work with colleagues to learn about their roles within the business and how we all work together for our clients.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider gave me excellent support, she was on hand to help with anything I needed. Very informative on each module and excellent explanation of processes and procedures. Regular meetings to keep me on track and easy to talk to and made the programme easy and enjoyable to complete.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My new qualification in funeral operations and services has given me a vast knowledge, information and experience in my role as a funeral arranger. This will now give me much more confidence to perform my role as a funeral arranger and help and support my work colleagues in their roles.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At the coop we are always looking for ways in which we can get together and even raise money for charity. We are currently doing a fundraiser walking up Pen y fan for Latch. As well as my role as funeral arranger I am also a member pioneer for my area.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Co-op to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Being part of the coop is fantastic and I can honestly say I enjoy my job. My colleagues are like family and we support each other and do loads of things together as a team which makes it easier to do our jobs. The perks of staff discount in store helps too.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • It can be a hard process to get into Funeralcare but just be yourself and if you are right for the job your interviewers will know. That is what I did and it got me a job that I love, couldn't wish for a better company and work colleagues .
