Team leader includes running the shift, placing staff where needed based on their strengths and weaknesses. Ensuring food goes out within the service spec.Dealing with customer queries and complaints. Doing all line and spot checks of stock. Doing kitchen check at end of shift. Cashing up and entering details into the system.
I already have some supervisory skills but we have covered in more depth elements of coaching and training. Providing feedback, time and performance management skills, looking into budgets and forecasting, looking at different trends and planning for special events. Looking at ways to build on skills of promoting and up selling.
I thoroughly enjoy the programme. I am learning a lot more about the running of the business and also business legislation. If I get stuck with anything my tutor is very understanding and patient and will explain things further, she has had hands on experience in the trade so is very knowledgeable.
The programme is broken down into smaller sections and each one is covered over a few weeks in between one to one sessions. There is lots of information and activities on each section of the programme making it easier to take it in. There are also more in depth parts if you are aiming for a higher pass.
My employer supports me every step of the way, we have monthly one to ones to see if I need any extra help on anything or if she can offer any guidance, she has also done alot of courses and been in the business a long time and she can share lots of experience.
I receive lots of support from my training provider, there are lots of different programs that are accessible for me and tools available to support my learning, my trainer encourages me to dig deeper into the modules to gain more knowledge. The one to one sessions are a great support.
The qualification I'm hoping to achieve will show that I am competent in all aspects of my current role and will also prepare me for ongoing development as the course covers aspects of my role in a lot more depth. This will enable me to mentor and coach my own team.
There are no extra-curricular activities as such but I have recently been able to invest some extra time planning an event for the business, this has led to recognition from the area manager in the form of an invitation to an event attended by people in similar situations from across the business, this will be an opportunity for networking.
