  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • At times it was a struggle to find time to get the work completed but I enjoyed talking about my work with my trainer and the advice he was able to offer due to his own experience was very useful which I was then able to use in my job.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was very structured as I had to complete the course in 3 parts. Each part had about 3/4 things that needed to be done and signed of before I then moved on to the next one such as workbooks to answer or talking about topics whilst being recorded.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I did receive a lot of support from my employer. It was my manager at the time who suggested I do the course. Also if I had to meet with my trainer, they were always happy to cover my duties that I wasn’t able to do such as cover reception.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I received a lot of support from my trainer. He always offered to help if I was struggling in any way. If I couldn’t complete work by a set date or couldn’t attend a meeting due to illness etc he was always very understanding as to my reason for this.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification has helped my be more organised in my role. It has also helped me prioritise the duties that I need to do. It has also given me the tools to be a better supervisor to other members of the team. So I can help with their role development and help with any training etc.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are none in the pub and hotel that I work at but I belief that my head office encourages this. Especially when it comes to raising money for their chosen charity Macmillan. They send out fundraising packs to all hotels and pub to get them to hold events or sponsored events. They also hold extra training days on order for people to learn new aspects if in a new role or to be a refresher.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend both as a place to work and as a place to visit either book a stay or eat and drink. It is a good place to work as their is plenty of support within your immediate team and from the head office plus their is great benefits such as discounts. Greene king pubs and hotels offer good services. The food is good in my experience.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • I only have knowledge on the hotel and pub level rather than head office or upper management but there is a great team ethos and atmosphere. We all try to work together and help each other out whether that be sharing knowledge on a group Facebook page or area meetings.
