  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role includes everything that is involved in a day to day service in our restaurant, for example hosting, waiting on, running food and making drinks and taking orders on the bar, from time to time I have to do more managerial jobs like cashing up counting the safe and taking stock.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes in my four years working for the company I have developed many skills, most of all my ability to talk openly and freely to customers, making drinks to the correct specifications to suit the company’s wishes and communication between team members to make sure shifts run smoothly and without incident.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really like being on my training programs as it gives me a genuine opportunity to learn new things and deepen my understanding of things i may already know. All of which helps the daily experience of being at work because the more you know about something the easier things get.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured, each time I have a visit from my trainer they will set specific work which is to be completed within 4/6 weeks (or for the next visit). This structure helps massively to ensure the work is done as it gives automatic organisation to the learner.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I will receive as much or as little support as I need to get the work that has been set done, even if you go to a session without something completed as you didn’t know what to put then they will help you get it done in the meeting.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I will receive as much support as is necessary to ensure my qualification gets completed to a good enough standard to pass or receive a distinction. Each piece of work has to be done to the correct standard to pass the course overall, if it is not being met then the trainer will help you reach it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As previously stated I believe that the more you know about a job or role within an organisation as large as Greene King the easier the job itself gets and a deeper understanding of what you’re actually doing and why helps with the job satisfaction side of the job as it gives you a more meaningful reason to work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At my place of work there are often social events happening on a day to day basis. This could be going out at night for a drink or two or more daytime activities like going and doing various activities like bowling, trampolining, walks, and days out to zoos water parks or theme parks.
