My current job title is Trainee C&I Engineer. I started in this role around two months ago and I am thoroughly enjoying my new position. My role involves managing and modifying all aspects of the control side of the plant. Ensuring everything is operating smoothly and making improvements were possible to maximise production. I am responsible for creating solutions to problems that occur and offering support to the entire electrical engineering department.
Since starting my apprentice I have completed multiple levels of education learning everything I need to set me up as a successful engineer on site. Upon starting on site I have worked alongside time served engineers and learned a great deal from completing projects and working on installations under supervision. I am constantly learning and always involved in new training courses to ensure that my knowledge and skills are up to date with the technology used around the plant.
I love my job and enjoy working with all of my colleges. I feel as though I am part of a team and everybody is more than happy to help each other when needed to ensure the department completes targets. Egger is always expanding and constantly offering new opportunities for its employees. Everyday in my role is different as you never know what is going to happen on day to day basis on the plant. This keeps things interesting and ensures I never get bored.
I feel valued within the company and get praised for doing well. I always get involved with tasks and get asked my opinion on things by senior members of staff.
My program is structured well and includes many targets whilst we complete our apprenticeship.
Our training provider regularly attended the plant and checked that we were documenting our involvement with projects and obtaining feedback from us. They would guide us well and push us to complete tasks to ensure that we completed our apprenticeship on time and that we got the most out of it.
My manager is always offering support as well as asking for feedback to see what areas I would like more training in or things that could be improved. The company regularly highlights men's health issues and specifies month long campaigns that promote a healthy lifestyle.
I feel my salary is fairly competitive and meets all of my basic needs like owning a nice a car and having my own house. However after deducting all of my costs I would like to have more disposable income to indulge in hobbies and other activities that improve my lifestyle. This is probably the case for everybody in employment however.
Egger promotes many opportunities outside of work. They organise trips away and regular social and sporting events to raise money for charities and organisations. They contribute massively to the local community by employing local people which in turn boosts the economy.
Yes
Egger is a fantastic company that offers many opportunities to its apprentices that succeed academically and physically onsite.
The best advice I can give is to put together a well written and informative application. Thoroughly explaining what your interests are in the position, relevant experience and goals you would like to reach within the company. Talk about yourself confidently and explain what traits you have that would make you ideal for the role. Always research the company and make sure you know what the job entails. Dress smart and speak clearly and confidently, small things can make the difference between one candidate getting the job over the other.
