1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am doing a degree in Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management and am currently on industrial placement. On a daily basis I deal with cost management and pricing works and agreeing works with sub-contractors. I am currently working on a school project in Islington.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, have been on training courses including asbestos awareness. I have also been getting advice and help on how to attain chartership status after I finish my degree.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

My first 5 months of placement weren't ideal as I wasn't on a site where much was going on so didn't end up learning a lot. However, since the new year I have been on a much better site with a better site team which has meant I have learnt a lot.

4. How valued do you feel by Morgan Sindall?

I feel valued by the team as I get given responsibility to obtain a lot of information from sub-contractors and I also get asked a lot to pay invoices from people outside of my site.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think my programme could be structured better as I haven't seen much evidence of any structured learning or goals I should be aiming for. I think it would be helpful to aid my degree work if there was more of a structure.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

I get good support as I have had a few training courses in my time here which have been good for my knowledge concerning the building industry.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

I think I could get more support but I am learning a lot while I am on site.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

I live at home and get my travel paid for so my salary is sufficient.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

Yes, there are quarterly staff briefings where we get told about the business. Also, HR has set up plenty of scheme's like discounted gym memberships and discounts for restaurants.

9a. Would you recommend Morgan Sindall to a friend? *

9b. Why? *

They are a good company to work for in terms of work culture on sites which makes working as a team on site enjoyable.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Morgan Sindall? *

I would say to people joining to tell the business what goals you would like to achieve by the end of the year and then they can place you on an appropriate site in order to achieve these goals.
