  • As a teaching assistant, my role is to support the teacher in creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students. On a day-to-day basis, this involves assisting with lesson preparation, setting up materials and resources, and providing one-on-one or small group support to students who need extra help. I also help monitor student behavior and maintain a safe and inclusive classroom. In addition, I may assist with grading assignments, recording attendance, and communicating with parents and caregivers. It is also important for me to build positive relationships with students, providing encouragement and motivation to help them reach their full potential. Overall, my role as a teaching assistant is to support the teacher and create a positive and nurturing learning experience for students.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time as a teaching assistant apprentice, I have had the opportunity to learn and develop a range of skills that have not only helped me in my role, but also in my personal and professional life. One of the most important skills I have learnt is effective communication, both with students and teachers. This includes not only verbal communication, but also active listening and nonverbal cues. I have also developed my organizational skills, as I am responsible for managing classroom resources and assisting with lesson planning. Additionally, I have learnt how to adapt my teaching style to meet the diverse needs of students, as well as how to provide support and guidance to those who may struggle with certain tasks. Overall, my teaching assistant apprenticeship has allowed me to gain a variety of valuable skills that will undoubtedly benefit me in my future career.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have found the experience to be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. I have always had a passion for education and being able to support and guide students in their learning journey has been a truly enriching experience. I thoroughly enjoy working alongside the classroom teacher, collaborating on lesson plans, and implementing various teaching strategies to help students grasp difficult concepts. It brings me great joy to see my students grow and develop their skills and knowledge with each passing day. Being a teaching assistant has also allowed me to constantly learn and improve my own teaching techniques, making me a better educator overall. Overall, I can confidently say that I thoroughly enjoy my role as a teaching assistant and am grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young learners.

  • I am fortunate to receive a tremendous amount of support from my employer, Inspire ATA. From the moment I joined the company, I have felt valued and appreciated for my contributions. They also prioritise employee well-being. I truly feel like a part of a supportive and nurturing work family at Inspire ATA, and it motivates me to do my best every day.
