  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day-to-day basis I carry out various tasks, which can vary from processing deals to reconciling funds. We have to carry out both daily and monthly tasks, these tasks are performed on excel as well as systems we use internally. My role is mainly to reconcile, therefore I carry out daily tasks which involve the reconciliation of ETF funds.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme a lot, I definitely do not regret taking up this opportunity over going to university. The exposure and experience I have gained working in a global team for such a well-known organisation has been extremely valuable. Furthermore, the support I have received from the early careers team and my apprenticeship manager has exceeded my expectations.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the programme is definitely organised well, during my apprenticeship there was a switch in standard in relation to the qualification I am working towards, therefore it has not been completely plane sailing. However, the early careers team is set up very well and I beleive moving forward the organisation and structure will only improve.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support received from Fidelity is exceptional. I think the key to this is the support streams set up, when joining we are paired with a 'buddy' who has started the apprenticeship a year prior, therefore they a great person to reach out to for any queries. Furthermore, we also have an apprenticeship manager who oversees our apprenticeship work, this is vital as they can help you with any issues you are facing within the team and they can also help develop you as an individual. Finally, the early careers team also provide consistent support throughout the apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Working with Fitch Learning, we are paired with a skills coach. We catch-up with the skills coach on a monthly basis throughout the apprenticeship, which is key to building rapport whilst also ensuring you are on the right track regarding all of the apprenticeship work. I beleive frequent catch-ups are the key to success as keeping up with studies can be difficult when you are a full time employee within a team.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the qualification is a great baseline to develop your knowledge on the financial services industry. By completing the qualification it allows you to gain a deeper understanding to what we do as an organisation and the services we offer for our clients. Aside from the examination, the rest of the tasks that go towards your qualification allow you to develop different skills as well as allowing you to reflect on the progress you have made.the

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is currently a 5 a side football team being set up, which I am looking forward to joining. There are also other events put on by Fidelity and Investment 20/20, where you gain an opportunity to network with other apprentices and industry professionals. As an apprentice, particularly working in a global team I beleive that networking is key towards creating opportunities.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Fidelity International to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think overall, the apprenticeship programme is very well set up. The staff working at Fidelity are all very like minded and professional. Finally, the values of the company are very employee focused, which is particularly appealing to an apprentice who is in the early phases of their working career.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fidelity International?
  • In relation to tips and advice for applying, I would definitely recommend it. If you are successful as an applicant, I would urge you to make the most of the facilities and opportunities available.
