  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Everyday I go through a call list of our depots customers and try to contact them to generate leads and gain sales. I also go through our daily depot invoice which is a list of all our customer transactions from the last day and if they traded elsewhere I call them and ask why they did that.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification helps me to perform better in my role due to the over lap in content I learn and then put into practise. For example I have to deal with a lot of customer complaints and in my course for my qualification I have learned how to deal with complaints.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are many extra curricular activities I am able to partake in through my employer such as depot night outs for example after the sale period the entire depot went to the local pub where we all ate on the company card as a reward for the hard work we put in during the sale.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Howdens to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • When considering whether to recommend howdens employment to friend you must first differentiate the roles. The warehouse line of work is completely different to the role in Business development. But just recommending the Business developer role the work isn't easy but you will be supported through the work and the pay is very good for an apprentice.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Howdens?
  • Learn doors, Doors are a quintessential part of what we sell and they can differentiate so much through material and size and colour and finish. So to learn doors will be very helpful.
