  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Helping customers with any issues. Helping the company sell kitchens and promoting our newest deals and offers to customers. Convincing customers to keep account open and open new accounts. Telling people about our trade day and setting up fundraising projects for them. We also communicate with HR and QA departments to solve customers issues.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed a lot of personal skills, I have become more confident in speaking to people over the phone. I have improved my IT skills as I spend a lot of my day on a computer. I have also gained customer service skills and being able to help customers with the best of my ability and solving the problems as quickly as possible.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really do like my programme and job role. I feel like I excel in this and is the first job that I have done that I feel comfortable to be myself and haven't felt stressed or overwhelmed. I know that if I'm not sure of anything I can speak to someone and they will help me and teach me what is the right thing to do.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very organised. Visits are spread out and time to complete work but still being able to do job. The work isn't to hard and allows me to do it while also doing my job role. The instructors are very nice and organised and always have work for me to complete and do.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a large amount of support, anything I need or need help with there is always someone there to help. They give me the right amount of resources to be able to do my job role. Tell mw where i need to improve and offer courses and tours of Howdens that will help me excel in my job role.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lot of support, they always check up on me and make sure that I am enjoying my job and getting on with my work. When they do visit they do help me with any work and are always there if i need any help, they respond to emails quickly and send me any recourses in good time.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The courses and work that they give me allows to learn more about the company and what they promise to customers and give me tips and skills to help me improve in my job. All the work that they send is focused on my job role and helps me identify what is most important. They also give me lots of tips and tricks that help me perform in my job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At Howdens, we do a monthly trade day, this allows us to interact with the builders in person and show them our latest offers. Last year, people from our depot did a marathon to raise money for charity, we also did a ice bucket challenge to raise money for the the Christie. We also do annual Christmas products.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Howdens to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommended a friend to Howdens, as since joining I have felt very welcomed and loved and I receive good training and the correct training to excel in my job role. Howdens has many opportunities to move up in the company and there is always something to do so, you can never be bored. I would also recommend buying a kitchen to someone as I have seen what our designers design and the kitchens that we provide and trust that they will be happy.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Howdens?
  • Don't be afraid as most things are easy to pick up and there is always someone there who will be able to help you. There is many life changing opportunities so if you are offered one, please take it. There is always room to move up, even if it isn't in the depot you are applying for there is many other depots in surrounding areas.
