  • The main focus of my role is to build relationships with our customers, I will call customers from our account base and try to find out what they are doing, what they are doing next and how we can help with this.

  • Yes, my communication skills/ confidence over the phone has improved massively. My kitchen knowledge has also increased alot!

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the job I do, and the apprenticeship side of it is just as enjoyable, I just find it difficult to make time to do the work sometimes.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Howdens is very well organised, we have smashed targets every month. The apprenticeship side of things isn't the most organised to be honest, as i don't have a schedule for when i am supposed to do work, and sometimes i fall behind on the work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has helped me out a lot when it comes to the actual job, but hasn't given me much support on the apprenticeship side of things.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My apprentice coach has helped me massively, she gives me great advice and helps my confidence when it comes to the apprenticeship.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps me get a better understanding of how to evolve a conversation from customer to customer. And it helps my knowledge grow on the admin side of things.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have a few events at Howdens, one of these is called XPO. This is where people from around the country look at different kitchens and new kitchens.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it is an amazing career opportunity, and has no many different areas of work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Howdens?
  • TRUST THE PROCESS, it will take time to adapt to the job, especially if your kitchen knowledge isn't the greatest. You will get there, it just takes time.
