  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a change enabler within the organization. On a daily basis I engage with stakeholders with activities like eliciting and documenting requirements, monitor project progresses, update project documentation and keep abreast of other changes within the organization. In addition I am allowed and supported in my apprenticeship learning with both time and resources.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • So far in my apprenticeship i have had the opportunity to develop further a lot of the key skills and techniques required in my role. The programme started with some foundation’s webinars in Business Writing, Presentation skills and Negotiation Skills. In addition, i have had the opportunity to improve on my time management.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It is demanding but enjoyable. The opportunity to learn and at the same time put into practice what I have just learned cannot be easily matched by other work development programme. In addition, the number of available resources, both internally and externally helps make the experience more manageable and thus enjoyable.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is extremely well organised and structured, with clear tasks, objectives and KPI. The coach is also very involved and ensure my line manager is also both fully updated and supportive. The various Topics are built in a sequential manner that enable you to progressively use the learning on a daily basis.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is extremely supportive. I am allowed to have my 20% off the job learning time and at the same time, they offer additional courses and resources for general skills that will help me further develop in my role and as an employee. We also get a chance to network with other colleagues on different apprenticeship programmes.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider has been excellent. So far they have demonstrated a genuine interest in my progress and support for the additional qualification taken as part of some topics, as well as a continuous support in order to keep me on track with the general programme goals, targets and expectation

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • So far it has been very useful as the learning has been 100% applicable and supportive of my daily tasks. This has enable me to run more effective eliciting session, using different techniques, write better documentation, and also get involved with Project Management tasks that previously fell outside of my remit.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am lucky enough that my employer has many extra curriculum activities, some specifically designed to network and socialise with apprentices in other departments, but also generally get involved with topics that helps you understand the organization and your role within it, much better. We have also done a team day for my department that enabled us to contribute in our future ways of working.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Fortnum & Mason to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The organization is a recognised leader in their marketplace and at the same time is driving innovation and investing in their people. Communication from the top down is both open and regular and it is easily to feel involved and also recognised for our effort. It also promote people initiative and less bureaucracy then other organizations I have worked for.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fortnum & Mason?
  • They would need to properly research the company history, understanding where they came from, how comes they have been successful for all those years and also how they have evolved more recently, especially since the pandemic in the last two years so that they can quickly establish if they are a good fit.
