  • Receiving and processing incoming stock and materials. This involves unloading goods from pallets, checking them for damage and accuracy, and recording quantities. Picking and filling orders from stock: Warehouse operatives may use picking lists or handheld devices to locate and retrieve items from the warehouse shelves and sent to the shop floor. Managing and organizing inventory: This involves keeping track of stock levels and ensuring that the warehouse is organized in a way that makes it easy to find and retrieve items. Operating warehouse equipment: Warehouse operatives may be required to operate various types of equipment, hand trucks, to move heavy items around the warehouse. Overall, a warehouse operative plays a vital role in the efficient operation of a warehouse, ensuring that goods are received, stored, and shipped accurately and on time.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt some Computer skills, as technology continues to advance, having basic computer skills can make your work more efficient. I can eventually with time learn to use inventory management software, barcode scanners, and other warehouse-related software. I've also learnt more on Health and safety skills, Warehouses can be dangerous places, and safety should be a top priority. Learning about safety procedures, including handling equipment, proper lifting techniques, and safety protocols can prevent accidents and injuries. Overall, developing these skills can make you a more valuable employee, increase your job satisfaction, and open up more opportunities for career advancement.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It is the opportunity for on-the-job training, the apprentice program offers the chance to learn while working. This means that you can gain practical experience and learn new skills as you go Also formal qualification, completing an apprenticeship program can result in a formal qualification, which can be highly beneficial in terms of future career prospects. Another great thing is that you earn while you learn.

  • The program has relevant topics and skills that I need to learn, as well as assessments to measure my progress and ensure I have mastered the necessary knowledge and skills. Additionally, I have an experienced mentor who can provide guidance and support throughout my training, as well as opportunities for me to practice and apply what I have learned in real-world situations.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive support from my manager - he checks in on me to see how I am doing, making sure I am up to date with Training and Development -- develop my skills and knowledge to perform more effectively. to also ensure that I can perform effectively, grow professionally, and maintain my physical and mental wellbeing daily.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support I receive is really good. Just an email or phone call away. The fact that it can be small thing to ask or a big thing, no matter what they are there. They provide the right level of support, by achieving my goals and reach my full potential. They are available to answer questions, provide advice, and help the mentee navigate challenges.

  • Knowledge and skills - Qualifications provide knowledge and skills that are relevant to my role, which I may not have acquired otherwise. Credibility - Qualifications can provide me with credibility and legitimacy in my role, which can help to build trust with colleagues. Confidence - Qualifications can also provide me with greater confidence in my abilities to perform. Career progression - Qualifications can also provide me with opportunities for career progression by demonstrating expertise and commitment to my field. This can lead to new job opportunities, promotions, and higher salaries.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • With this I am unsure as I will now need to find out and take part if possible. As a mother it can be a little tricky when it comes to activities or events outside of work. Finding the time and if it works around my life. It is not easy.
