About Fortnum & Mason
They say you never forget your first time at Fortnum & Mason. More than a mere shop, this place has helped write history. Feeding the appetites of kings and queens, all united in their love for the extraordinary.
It all began with Queen Anne’s insistence on fresh candles every night, leaving half-burnt royal wax for an enterprising footman William Fortnum, to recycle and sell on. With the help of his landlord Hugh Mason, he started a business. And so in 1707, Fortnum & Mason was born.
Through times of strife and times of triumph, we’ve been in the business of pleasure. Home to extraordinary food, unforgettable experiences, exceptional service, and above all: Joy-giving things.
As a family run business that’s been around for over 300 years, it is our responsibility to conduct business today in a way that is sustainable for the next 300. We have a rich history of not only championing traditions but also driving innovation to stay relevant to our ever changing world.
We have four sustainability and social responsibility pillars: People, Product, Packaging and Planet. These drive our commitment to doing more things more often to create long-lasting change, with the help of our suppliers, employees and customers.
Just as shopping and dining at Fortnum & Mason is an experience, so is working at Fortnum’s. There is a career to suit a whole host of passions and skills across our shops, restaurants, offices and warehouses.
Each year, a number of fresh thinking people successfully graduate from our thriving apprenticeship programme, which gives them the opportunity to learn and improve their skills whilst working in roles at Fortnum’s. Launched in 2016, it has doubled in size each year, and now embraces an ever-growing list of disciplines, providing numerous routes for people to fuel their careers.
Those who consistently demonstrate individual initiative within a collaborative team, thrive at Fortnum & Mason. If this sounds like you, and you’re ready for the next step in your career, we welcome your application!
