we complete electrical exercises in the workshop such as wiring and fitting electrical circuits and in the classroom we spend time doing the theory behind the practical.
Yes I have learned how to do many electrical skills such as strip cable, terminate cable, conduit, trunking but also added onto my knowledge of the theory based side which ghelsp me understand the practical
I enjoy the things I do in the workshop as I find it very interesting but I also enjoy the people around me and the teachers/instructors
The idea of the structure of the programme is okay but sometimes things go wrong. For example we didn't have OneFile (The programme that logs our coursework) up and running for a couple of months so we have had to adapt around it
Babcock offer support programmes and have trained health supporters for support in that department but also just support on learning is there and many things such as SMARTER targets to support you along your way to excelling
The teaching is good but apart from that there is no other support to help you towards your qualification.
The theory side helps me in the workshop as it makes me have a better understanding of what I am actually doing and this means I am able to see things more clearer and can potentially help others who are struggling.
There is supposed to be an end of year event but apart from that there is nothing for us to do from what I know.
Yes
With Plymouth being a small city there is not much down here and babcock is one of the biggest in the south west so I would recommend this to someone if they wanted a secure job for the rest of their life.
If you are unsure just go for it as there is so much to do within babcock and theres many different fields to work in so if you dont find the right thing for you there is bound to be one else where within babcock
