  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a reception supervisor. I have a small team to look after as well as general reception duties. I also run above the housekeeping team to help aid to run a full working hotel. I also help in the pub and restaurant so I have a wide variety of roles I can provide.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have enhanced my existing skills as well as learning new skills such as team management and finances. I am now confident in running the hotel all by myself. I am now more confident in helping in the pub and restaurant. As well as helping out with events and functions.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed that I was allowed to work at my own pace and have help whenever I needed it. I also enjoyed the course as there was not a little t of written work and the majority of the marking was on watching you fulfill your role and doing small tasks.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well organised. The programme is split into manageable sections and allows you to grow the further you get into the course. Each step of the course is outlined and pin pointed to allow you to see what you need to do to fulfill that part and what to work towards.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I had full support from my employer and the rest of the team. Through each section my employer would have to skills match me to ensure that I had. If I had not then he would work with me and provide encouragement to snsure I was learning what I needed to learn.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • 100% support of I was stuck I could ring my trainer or there was online support. For the online support there is not only sections that are outlined for your course but there is also a online chat where you can ask other learners who are on the same course as you.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have a better understanding of the business now as I have learned all aspects of the business. I was also given support to.encourage my self belief. I am a shy person but needed to learn how to encourage others and boost my confidence in helping others to be more confident.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • No there are not but they are encouraging staff to do so. We have had a few social events planned and there is a football league being set up. For the ladies there is not but I have been set the challenge to see if there are any ideas on what we can do.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They support and help you and encourage you to grow and provide training to do so. They sit down with you and ask you what you would like to do in the future and then they set up a plan and then put this into action to help further your career in either Greene king or else where.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Just give it a go. Where I am employed they are amazing and other Greene king pubs/ hotels I have been to you can see they do as much for the team as possible. Greene king are not just pubs or restaurants they are also hotels and bed and breakfast so there is a wide variety of roles to apply for.
