  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have to prep for the days service and make sure people know there job roles for the day. Make sure that food is sent out within a decent amount of time and to a high quality and standard. Clean up at the end of the day and pre for next day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Prep, knife skills and how to man manage people in certain disruptions. How to control conflict so that it does not get out of hand. Knowing when to be assertive and when to speak with authority is a key and also not knowing what people are thinking is good judge of character.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy learning new things and the way it has helped me with my communication skills. Also it has helped me with my maths and I really struggled with it before now. This has helped me learn such things as formalise area and perimeter and I had no clue how to do that.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is complicated with the fuse system and how to transfer your work onto the portal I think there could be a similar system to use so that it’s not so hard. But I suppose over time this will improve and it will get easier for the next learners.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Yes my manager has said he fully supports me too the end. Don’t think they realise how much work is actually involved in all of this because sometimes there isn’t enough hours in the day and once I’ve finished a 13 hour shift it is so hard too get any work done.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Ian sweet has been excellent. I have had a few moments whilst I changed my workplace where it has been put on hold and also I’ve had too do the same because there is no staff at work so doing the work isn’t possible he has been understanding.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Because it gives me the confidence to take what I have learnt from the course to take it into the workplace and practice this. This has helped me so many times I think that it has made me into a better chef today but I’m no we’re near were I want too bebyet.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not that much that we can get involved in really. There is a team Facebook page that people post on and see what’s happening with the company and there is a staff night out every so often but that’s about it really maybe I could come up with a idea.
