  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The job is office based and can vary from day to day. Some of the things I have completed so far include: Carrying out subcontract payments - this includes assessing what you have previously paid the subcontractors and reviewing the money they have applied for. Once this has been assessed the payment will be sent and you can let the subcontracted know how much they will be paid. Estimating: when starting up on new projects estimating plays a key role in quantity surveying as you are looking at roughly how much the project is going to cost. Rasing orders for materials or plant hire.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is structured really well this includes college block release programmes which can be between 8-12 weeks over 3-4 years. This involves living away from home in student houses, it gives you the experience of being a student, living away from home and learning all whilst getting paid and then getting site experience too!
