  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is a Business Analyst. I work within the regs and man team, so when new regulations come in it is my team that conducts the analysis, design and testing of new systems that will mean compliance to new guidelines. Being a business analyst I analyse the current business situation, conduct gap analysis and then begin to engineer requirements of the new system.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes! I have learnt so many new skills, as well as developing ones I had before. I was completely new to my role and the Investment Industry when I started my apprenticeship at Fidelity about 4/5 months ago. With both internal and external training I feel confident in my role and have a good understanding of my day-to-day job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is really enjoyable! I am very lucky to be part of a great team who were all very welcoming when I joined them in September. Both past apprentices and those who I joined with are lovely and welcoming, which means we often share ideas and help each other where we can.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well organised and structured. My training provider Firebrand are very professional and made the logistics of how the programme should run very clear from the beginning. I always know what I am meant to be doing and when, and I know what is expected of me in order to complete the apprentice programme

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is really supportive throughout the programme. My manager helps me whenever he can, and always makes time for me if I need it. We have weekly catch-up's to update each other on progress etc. The early careers manager is also very helpful and answers any questions I have promptly.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Firebrand offers lots of help and support throughout the training. I have a catch-up call with my learning mentor every 8 weeks, and then a review with my learning mentor and my manger every 8 weeks - so I speak to my learning mentor at least once a month. However, he is very prompt to answer my emails if I have any questions in the meantime.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I went to complete the course for my qualification last week with Firebrand. The content that I learnt in the course was so helpful - it is really relatable to the work that we do in the office. Being able to use these real-life example to aid your learning is really helpful.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a number of social events that take place that bring all of the apprentices from different office locations together. This is a great way of sharing experiences and ideas with each other, especially in the early days of your apprenticeship. We also get the opportunity to volunteer throughout the year.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Fidelity International to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Fidelity is a great place to work, everyone here is really friendly and welcoming - it's such a great culture! I have learnt so much here in such a short period of time and I can not wait to learn more. There is never a day that I do not want to come to work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fidelity International?
  • Be yourself and be confident! The application process can be a little daunting, especially the interviews, but as long as you are confident and show off your best qualities there is nothing to worry about! It is such a great opportunity so you should give it you all because it is worth it.
