  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role at Colt Technology is Project Support Apprentice in the PMO (Project management office). My daily tasks involve raising purchase requisitions and purchase order numbers on behalf of project managers. I also do a weekly compliance report which show line managers time booked which cannot be capitalised in a month’s costs.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In a short space of time I have already learnt many new skills with the on the job training. I have learnt new skills though the internal training set up such as learning how to use Excel. I have also had external training which has given me new skills and better ways to build relationships with other colleagues.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship programme is well structured as I had training from both internal and external people in learning how to use different systems and how to be professional and meet the expectations of your team. I also have structured meetings with my manger and the programme is organised as I have been given support when needed to complete tasks to the best ability.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I have not had much support from the training provider. I have found it hard to contact them and it takes them a long time to respond to my emails and have sometimes not even replied at all. However the content of the webinars is okay and I get enough support from my team members for this to not affect me too much.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive very good support from my team and manager. They always make time for meetings with me where we talk about systems and processes which the team uses. I have found this to be good as it has helped me learn a lot more about what the project team do and how they go about improving processes.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • For me, I have found this to be a well paid apprenticeship and feel like I am paid a fair wage considering my age and experience. My wage is able to meet all my living, travel and social costs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities outside of work to take part in. There is the annual bike ride which many employees take part in to raised money for charity. They also hold charity quiz nights and have open opportunities for Colt employees to do volunteering activities which again helps to raise money for good causes.

  • I would recommend Colt Technologies to a friend because there are many opportunities available and the culture and people are really nice which makes it easier to settle in and enjoy your job.
